7-speed automatic transmission with optional 4WD
Awesome automotive technology in a van! The 7-speed dual-clutch wet-clutch transmission is available in the Transporter and is the only vehicle in its class to offer this option. It has a faster shifting speed than any other standard automatic transmission, shifts seamlessly, and can handle the huge torque and load demands of a utility vehicle. It also features Volkswagen’s popular 4MOTION all-wheel drive as an option.
All that power is nothing without control; At the heart of the all-wheel drive is a wet clutch, which maneuvers like a car on hard surfaces, for serious off-road all-wheel drive. Electronic storage release and load sensing are standard on all models.
Power where and when you need it
Twin turbochargers and common rail injection technology give the Transporter a massive 400Nm of torque and optional 120kW of power, all from a 2.0L engine. Not bad, especially compared to a 3.0L Hiace which has 300 Nm/100 kW respectively. The Transporter gives you the best of both worlds; a fuel-efficient 2.0L engine that allows you to travel more than 1,000 km on one tank of fuel, with fuel consumption of only 7.4 L/100 km and the power of an engine of 3, 0L to handle all the big jobs when needed. We call it smart downsizing.
European security and sophistication
Built on a rugged chassis and tri-box body design, the Transporter receives a 4-star ANCAP safety rating, with standard front airbags, plus optional side and curtain airbags for the rear passenger.

The Transporter has premier flexible service intervals of 40,000 km/24 months and extended parts replacement within these service intervals, for example fuel filter replacement at 80,000 km or air filter replacement at 120,000 km.
